- Non-Botrytis grape-rotting fungi responsible for earthy and moldy off-flavors and mycotoxins.
- Rousseaux S, Diguta CF, Radoï-Matei F, Alexandre H, Guilloux-Bénatier M.Author information UMR PAM Université de Bourgogne-AgroSup Dijon Laboratoire VALMiS Institut Universitaire de la Vigne et du Vin Jules Guyot, Université de Bourgogne, 21078 Dijon Cedex, France. Electronic address: sandrine.rousseaux@u-bourgogne.fr.AbstractThe grape microflora is complex and includes filamentous fungi, yeasts and bacteria with different physiological characteristics and effects on wine production. Most studies have focused on the wine microbiota, but a few studies have reported the ecology of grape microorganisms. Some of these organisms - such as non-Botrytis bunch rotting fungi, which greatly influence the safety or sensory quality of wine, due to the production of mycotoxins and off-flavors, respectively - are considered to be spoilage agents. We review here the diversity of filamentous fungi on grapes and the factors influencing their development, such as grape ripening stage, environmental factors (climate, rain and cultivation practices), grape variety and grape health status. We also discuss the pathways by which mycotoxins and off-flavors are produced, the control of the population, the metabolites responsible for wine spoilage and the methods for detecting and characterizing the microorganisms involved.

- Gender differences of mental health consumers accessing integrated primary and behavioral care.
- Gleason H, Hobart M, Bradley L, Landers J, Langenfeld S, Tonelli M, Kolodziej M.Author information a Department of Psychiatry , UMass Medical School , Worcester , MA , USA .AbstractPersons with severe mental illness and addiction are at higher risk for early morbidity and mortality than the general population, and are less likely to receive primary care and preventive health services. Primary and behavioral integrated care programs aim to reduce these health disparities by providing comprehensive health and wellness services. Gender in particular may play a significant role in individuals' engagement and outcomes in such programs. Hence, this study examines the salient characteristics of behavioral health consumers accessing an integrated care program at a large community mental health center. Baseline gender differences in consumer demographics, substance use, psychological distress and functioning, physical health indicators, and risk factors for serious medical conditions are examined. Our results demonstrate that key gender differences exist and may warrant distinct treatment needs for men and women receiving integrated care.

- Situational determinants of use and treatment outcomes in marijuana dependent adults.

The present study describes situational use of marijuana in a population of 87 marijuana dependent adults and reports relationships with outcomes of treatment. Use in negative affective situations was independently associated with psychological distress, maladaptive coping strategies, lower self-efficacy, and poorer outcomes post-treatment. The findings were consistent with research on using drugs to cope with negative affect providing evidence of convergence between two different methods of assessing high risk situations for substance use. The results support continued emphasis on coping with negative affect as a target in treatments for marijuana dependence.
