Respiratory sounds, breath sounds, breathe sounds, or lung sounds refer to the specific sounds identified through auscultation of the respiratory system through the lung fields.[1] with a stethoscope. These include normal, rales, stridor, wheezing, or rhonchi sounds.
In this context, "adventitious sounds" refers to sounds heard apart from the normal sounds of inspiration and expiration.[2]
