- Baldonado A, Naqvi Mugler A, Garland A, Sherck J, Chin DE, Ely R, Barrett-Sheridan S.SourceAnaliza Baldonado, MSN/Ed, RN, CCRN, is the quality improvement coordinator of Valley Health Plan. Before this role, she was a clinical nurse III in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit and serves in quality improvement, shared governance council, and research committee. She has 13 years of critical care experience. Ms Baldonado was selected as an Evidence Based Fellow at the University of California San Francisco Center for Nursing Excellence. She has published and presented a poster in Amsterdam at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in 2011. Alice Naqvi Mugler, RN, MS, is the director for Nursing Professional Practice at Santa Clara Valley Medical (SCVMC) in San Jose, California. From 2008 to 2011,she was the Magnet Project Coordinator at SCVMC. As nurse executive at VA Palo Alto Health Care System for more than 17 years, Ms Naqvi Mugler was a national leader in the formation of the VA Nursing Outcomes Database. She has been a coinvestigator on several nationally funded research or performance improvement projects. Ms Naqvi Mugler has presented national and international podium and poster presentations. Her publications are primarily about measurement of outcomes, nurse-sensitive indicators, and education of staff about care for polytrauma injuries. Adella Garland, MD, is the director of Surgical Intensive Care, chief of the General Surgery, associate director of Trauma, and president of the Medical Staff at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She is clinical assistant professor of surgery (affiliated) at the Stanford University School of Medicine and site director for the General Surgery Residency. Dr Garland received her MD and surgical training at the University of California San Francisco and completed a fellowship in trauma/surgical critical care at Stanford. She is board certified in surgery, minimal invasive surgery, and surgical critical care. Her curriculum vitae document numerous journal publications, book chapters, research, and academic presentations. John Sherck, MD, is the director of Trauma and vice chair of the Department of Surgery at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a level I trauma center and the county hospital in San Jose, California. He is clinical professor of surgery (affiliated) at the Stanford University School of Medicine where he was the recipient of the Henry J. Kaiser Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching. He received his MD from Yale School of Medicine and his surgery training at the Stanford School of Medicine. He is board certified in surgery and in surgical critical care. He is a member of 12 scientific organizations and is an expert reviewer in trauma and critical care for the California Medical Board. Dr Sherck is author or coauthor of 33 scientific publications and 15 book chapters. Donna E. Chin, MS, RD, is a registered dietitian and has been employed at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for 23 years. She currently works in the trauma, surgical, and neonatal intensive care units and formerly was the clinical nutrition servicesmanager of the Department of Nutrition and Food Services. She has a master of science degree in nutritional sciences. Randi Ely, RN, is the nurse manager of Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) and Surgical ICU (SICU), Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She worked as an adult critical care nurse for 38 years. Her extensive experience in critical care includes SICU, TICU, MICU, CCU, Burn Unit, Cath laboratory, and emergency department. Shirley Barrett-Sheridan, DHA, RN, is an independent contractor functioning as the chief operating officer of Cypress Urgent Care Centers LLC on the Central Coast of California and is a faculty member at the University of Phoenix.
