感音性難聴のある例では、同じ音の変化でも健側より障害側で大きく変化して聞こえる現象。
両耳バランス検査などで確かめられる。
補充現象が陽性である場合、内耳障害である可能性が高い。

3. 障害側で2.と同じ音量で聞こえる音の強さを決定。
4. 3.の音の強さが障害側の気導閾値より20dB以上上回っていれば陰性。20dBより小さい場合は陽性。→　健側で聴いた音は、障害側ではより大きくとらえられたということ。
