• 炎症に伴うサイトカインと炎症メディエーターはCOX-2の産生を誘導する。(GOO.674)　←　つまり、このシクロオキシゲナーゼが炎症部位におけるプロスタグランジンの産生に関わっている。よって、COX-2を抑制することで消炎作用が得られる。
• アスピリンとNSAIDはCOX enzyme and prostaglandin産生を抑制する。一方、アラキドン酸代謝において、リポキシゲナーゼの代謝経路は抑制しない。このためロイコトリエンの形成は抑制されない。(GOO.674)
• 糖質コルチコイドはCOX-2の発現誘導を抑制する。また、phospholipase A2の活性も抑制する(アラキドン酸の産生に関与)。
