音の強さ、あるいは音響インテンシティとは、単位面積を通して伝わる音響パワーである。単位はW/m²。

音響インテンシティの大きさを、基準値との比の常用対数によって表現した量が音響インテンシティレベルである。単位はデシベル (dB)。

基準値は最小可聴音

であり

音響インテンシティI₁ (W/m²) の音響インテンシティレベルは
