- DSM-IV-TRではアンフェタミン誘発性精神病性障害と記載されている。
- 覚醒剤の連用により統合失調症に類似した精神状態を呈するようになる。
- 気分障害、幻覚(幻聴>幻視。その他幻臭、幻味、幻触)、妄想(関係妄想、被害妄想、注察妄想、追跡妄想)
- 覚醒剤の中止により多くは1ヶ月以内に軽快するが、残存する例もある。
- 統合失調症との差異:本疾患では感情の平板化と無論理思考が認められない。また、本疾患では疎通性が保たれている例が多い。
- 治療:短期間の抗精神病薬(ハロペリドール)の使用。
- 予後:本疾患では覚醒剤を中断して精神症状が消失した後、少量の覚醒剤の使用(逆耐性)により覚醒剤使用時と同じ異常体験が出現することがある(フラッシュバック)。同様のことは知覚刺激、ストレスなども引き金になりうる。
