- これまでは脳室シャント術が一般的であったが、シャント感染、シャント機能不全、あるいは髄液の過剰排出に伴う合併症も少なくなかった。このため、内視鏡的第3脳室開窓術が広く行われるようになってきた。冠状縫合近傍の頭蓋骨に小孔を開け、内視鏡を側脳室、モンロー孔を介して第3脳室にすすめ、第3脳室底を掻爬し脳室とくも膜下腔を交通させるものである。(SCN.299)
