• 赤血球内での中間代謝産物
• ヘモグロビンと結合することで、ヘモグロビンの酸素親和性を低下させる　→　酸素解離曲線の右方シフト

• ATPも同様な作用を示す

• 赤血球ではpHがアルカリ性に傾くと2,3-DPGが多く産生される。　→　低酸素状態の補償機構の一つ(代償は2日で完了)。もう一つはエリスロポエチンによる。

• 例えば、高山に登山して酸素不足→過呼吸→肺胞P_CO2↓→赤血球内pH↑→赤血球内2,3-DPG↑→酸素親和性↓→末梢酸素供給量↑
• 同様の機構は、貧血、肺での酸素吸収不足、肺循環量減少時にもおこる
