- Isotretinoin for the treatment of granulomatous rosacea: case report and review of the literature.
- Rallis E, Korfitis C.Author information Department of Dermatology, Veterans Administration Hospital NIMTS, Athens, Greece. efrall@otenet.grAbstractBACKGROUND: Granulomatous rosacea is considered a clinical variant of rosacea and is characterized by hard yellow, brown, red or flesh-colored cutaneous papules or nodules that may be severe and may lead to scarring. The lesions typically appear on the cheeks and periorificial lesions; they are monomorphic in each patient and sit on relatively normal-appearing skin. The diagnosis should be established by excluding other granulomatous disorders and rosacea-like eruptions such as sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, and lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei. The clinical course is chronic and unpredictable, and management can be very difficult.

- Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei with extrafacial involvement in a 17-year-old white girl.
- Mullan E, Green P, Pasternak S.Author information Department of Dermatology, McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, QC, Canada.AbstractBACKGROUND: Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei (LMDF) is a benign condition characterized by a papular eruption located in the central face. Histologic studies of the papules show granulomatous infiltrates with central necrosis. The condition is self-limited and usually resolves within 1 to 2 years yet can be cosmetically debilitating, given the location and potential for scarring. Granulomatous periorificial dermatitis similarly affects the face with granulomatous lesions and may overlap clinically with LMDF.
