- Surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi) is most frequently used for the label-free measurement of biomolecular interactions. Here we explore the potential of SPRi to measure antibody production of individual hybridoma cells. As a model system, cells from a hybridoma, producing monoclonal antibodies

- A monoclonal hybridoma cell named 5B9 against tetrodotoxin (TTX) was obtained after fusion of myeloma SP2/0 cells with spleen cells isolated from the immunized Balb/c mice. The 5B9 monoclonal antibody (McAb) with high affinity (about 2.55 × 10(9)) is specific to TTX, and this McAb belongs to the im

- Apoptosis has been widely studied in order to find methods to increase the life-span and production performance in large-scale animal cell cultures. The use of anti-apoptotic genes has emerged as an efficient method to reduce apoptosis in a variety of biotechnological relevant cell lines, including

- Hybridomas. Hybridomas are immortalized cells derived from the fusion of B lymphoblasts with a myeloma fusion partner. Some hybridomas in the ATCC collection are somatic cell hybrids. These cells are capable of producing immunoglobulins that are specific for viral, bacterial or cellular targets.
- Hybridoma cell lines are formed via fusion between a short-lived antibody-producing B cell and an immortal myeloma cell. Each hybridoma constitutively expresses a large amount of one specific mAb, and favored hybridoma cell lines can be cryopreserved for long-lasting mAb production .
- To separate B cells (immortal cells) and hybridoma cells (also immortal cells), specific types of myeloma cells are used. Myeloma cells do not secrete any antibody themselves and lack the hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT) gene, making them sensitive to a medium containing hypoxanthine–aminopterin–thymidine (HAT).
