当科で経験した脊髄外側, 腹外側血管芽腫の2症例をもとに, 片側椎弓切除術による後側方到達法の有用性について検討した.この後側方到達法は骨削除の範囲を症例により拡大することができ, 一般に視野の得にくい脊髄腹側への術野の展開が比較的容易である.さらに, 対側の椎間関節, 棘上棘間靱帯, 黄色靱帯などを温存できるため, 術後の後弯変形, 不安定性出現の予防となる.
