Somatrem is an analogue of growth hormone (GH).
Somatrem is a recombinant human growth hormone used for the treatment of short stature due to decreased or absent secretion of endogenous growth hormone. Somatrem was first marketed under the brand name Protropin by Genentech in 1985.[1] It differs from endogenous growth hormone by the addition of an extra methionine at the N-terminus[2][circular reference]. Somatrem has largely been replaced by somatropin, marketed by several companies including by Genentech as the brand Nutropin.

We found a new variant of human growth hormone (hGH) from the recombinant hGH expression process in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The variant was identified as N(alpha)-acetyl methionyl hGH which may be formed by N(alpha)-acetylation of met-hGH during the intracellular expression of hGH in S. cerevisiae

Human Growth hormone (hGH, somatotrophin) is a 22 kDa, 191 amino-acid single chain protein produced by somatroph cells of the anterior pituitary gland. It is the major physiological regulator of growth, and deficiencies in growth hormone levels have long been recognized as the underlying cause of gr
Protropin (Human Growth Hormone) Somatrem and somatropin are trade names for synthetic versions of human growth hormone (Protropin) that are made by bacteria using recombinant DNA techniques. Protropin stimulates skeletal growth in those patients that have a growth hormone deficiency.
What is Protropin? Protropin® (Somatrem for injection) is a polypeptide hormone produced by recombinant-DNA technology. Protropin has one hundred and ninety-two (192) amino acid residues and a molecular weight of about 22,000 daltons.
Protropin is a synthetic (man-made) version of human growth hormone (HGH), a naturally occurring substance thats produced by the pituitary gland which primarily stimulates growth in children. Protropin is approved for use in
