BACKGROUND: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) poses a great risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in adults and may pose a serious risk in children. Adult studies have shown that renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) levels directly correlate with left ventricular mass index (LVMI).
