Taurochenodeoxycholic acid is a bile acidformed in the liver by conjugation of chenodeoxycholate with taurine, usually as the sodium salt. It acts as detergent to solubilise fats in the small intestine and is itself absorbed. It is used as a cholagogue and choleretic.
