大柴胡湯が奏効した嘔吐の2症例を経験した。症例1は16歳女性。肺炎で入院中に嘔吐が出現。嘔吐，胸脇苦満などを参考に大柴胡湯を投与したところ，嘔吐は速やかに消失した。症例2は73歳女性。嚥下性肺炎の後，嘔気，嘔吐が出現。嘔吐に対し，胸脇苦満と便秘傾向を目標に大柴胡湯を投与したところ，徐々に消失した。古典条文の上で大量の生姜を含む大柴胡湯は，強力に嘔気を鎮めると考えられる。
