Otological symptoms of fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo are suggestive of Meniere's syndrome, as distinct from Meniere's disease.
This is a symptom complex which may be due to a number of disease entities, including Meniere's disease itself, the Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome, Cogan's syndrome, late congenital syphilis, and trauma (perilymph leak (Hinchcliffe, 1973)).
