- Histomorphological patterns of lupus nephritis with evaluation of WHO 1982 and ISN/RPS 2003 classifications.
- Akhter S, Kamal M.Author information Dr Shabnam Akhter, Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.AbstractWHO classifications and newly introduced ISN/RPS classification are in use to identify the different morphological patterns of lupus nephritis. This study was carried out to learn in details the spectrum of histomorphology in lupus nephritis according to both WHO and ISN/RPS classifications. A total of 58 patients with histological diagnosis of lupus nephritis were included in the study. Renal biopsy samples were evaluated both by light microscopy and immunofluorescence microscopy. Diffuse lupus nephritis was the most frequent histological class diagnosed (90%) along with common occurrence of hyaline thrombi, wire loop lesions, fibrinoid necrosis and crescents. No case of minimal glomerular lesion or advanced sclerosing lesion was found. The ISN/RPS classification was found to be more convenient to follow with its classes and definitions of diagnostic terms.

- Foreign body removal by snare loop: during intracranial stent procedure.
- Oh Y, Hwang DH, Ko YH, Kang IW, Kim IS, Hur CW.Author information Department of Radiology, Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, Seoul, Korea.AbstractWe present a case of successful retrieval of an intracranial stent using a snare wire. A 52-year-old woman presented with left border zone infarction. On cerebral angiography, the C6 segment of the left internal carotid artery (ICA) showed significant stenosis. We attempted stenting of the lesion, although stent dislodgement occurred in the ICA C4 segment. We successfully removed it using a snare loop, and there were no complications during the procedure.

- Dialysis catheter fibrin sheath stripping: a useful technique after failed catheter exchange.
- Mohamad Ali A, Uhwut E, Liew S.Author information Department of Radiology, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kuching, Malaysia.AbstractFibrin sheath formation around long-term haemodialysis catheter is a common cause of failed dialysis access. Treatment options include pharmacological and mechanical methods. This paper reports a case of failed dialysis access due to fibrin sheath encasement. Pharmacologic thrombolysis, mechanical disruption using guide wire and catheter exchange had failed to address the issue. Eventually, fibrin sheath stripping using the loop snare technique was able to successfully restore the catheter function.
