Cefalotin (INN) or cephalothin (USAN) is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.[1] It was the first cephalosporin marketed (1964) and continues to be widely used.[2] It is an intravenously administered agent with a similar antimicrobial spectrum to cefazolin and the oral agent cefalexin. Cefalotin sodium is marketed as Keflin (Lilly) and under other trade names.[3]

- Escherichia coli is among the most common bacterial pathogens in dogs and cats. The lack of a national monitoring program limits evidence-based empirical antimicrobial choices in the United States. This study describes antimicrobial susceptibility patterns for presumed clinical E. coli isolates from

- … After the second coating step, we observed a thick homogeneous apatite layer that contained the antibiotic, cefalotin. … We found that the modified titanium increased the loading of cefalotin onto the hydroxyapatite coated surface. … The results suggested that modified titanium coated with a cefalotin using biomimetic coating method might be useful for preventing local post-surgical implant infections. …
