• 視神経炎のうち、「病変が視神経乳頭にない」もの
• 視神経乳頭を含む眼底所見がほとんど正常であり、中心暗点などの視野障害と視力・視覚障害など神経炎の症状と伴ったモノ(SOP.165)
• 多発性硬化症では球後視神経炎が初発症状となることが多い
