Megestrol (INN, BAN) is a steroidal progestin which was never marketed.^[1]^[2] Its acylated derivative megestrol acetate is also a progestogen, which, in contrast to megestrol itself, has been extensively used as a pharmaceutical drug.^[1]^[2]
