アルコールの急性症状 (血中アルコール濃度)

0.5 mg/ml 以上で酒気帯び　→　道路交通法(0.5 mg/ml以上で運転能力の低下、1.5 mg/ml以下では著しい低下。1.5-2.0 mg/mlがもっとも危険。これ以上では運転できない)
血中アルコール濃度と酩酊の状態
0.0-0.5 mg/ml：：殆ど無症状か、わずかな熱覚、味覚や嗅覚の低下
0.5-1.0 mg/ml：弱度酩酊：顔面紅潮、抑制からの解放、陽気、多幸感、不安や緊張の緩和、反応時間の延長など
1.0-1.5 mg/ml：軽度酩酊：多弁、大胆、感覚の軽度麻痺、気分爽快、多弁など
1.5-2.5 mg/ml：中程度酩酊：眠気に襲われる、言語不明瞭、平衡感覚が鈍麻し、千鳥足になる、理解・判断力鈍麻など
2.5-3.5 mg/ml：強度酩酊：歩行困難、顔面蒼白、悪心、嘔吐、感覚麻痺、精神運動性興奮、言語不明瞭、諸反射の消失など
3.5-4.5 mg/ml：重度酩酊、泥酔：意識消失、筋力消失、呼吸困難、体温低下、昏睡状態
4.5- mg/ml：呼吸麻痺、心機能不全などで死亡する。

アルコールの慢性症状

アルコール中毒の患者において、脳神経でchromatosisが見られるが、ニューロンの脱落は末期まで見られない。小脳では虫部のニューロンが優先的に脱落する。大脳辺縁系の乳頭体に強い病変が見られる　→ ウェルニッケ・コルサコフ症候群と関連
