A tenotomy is a surgical act which involves the division of a tendon.[1] It and related procedures are also referred to as tendon release, tendon lengthening, and heel-cord release.
When it involves the Achilles tendon, it is called a "Achillotenotomy".
It has been used in the treatment of cerebral palsy.[2]
It has also been used for hammer toe.[3]
Achilles tenotomy is commonly used as part of the Ponseti Method of treatment of clubfoot

- Muscle extracellular matrix (ECM) plays an important role in maintaining muscular integrity and force transduction. However, the role of ECM in skeletal muscle atrophy remains unknown. In this study, we employed two clinically relevant mouse models of Achillotenotomy and hindlimb suspension to simul

- Studies on comparing the effect of lengthening, isometric and shortening contractions on dystrophin-deficient muscles are unavailable. We hypothesized that different types of contractions lead to different extents to which dystrophin-deficient muscles are injured. For this purpose, we developed prot
