Zannichellia (common name horned pondweed)[1] is a genus of submerged aquatic flowering plant.[2] The genus is fully adapted to an aquatic life cycle including underwater pollination.[1] Zannichellia has threadlike leaves and tiny flowers.[2]
There are perhaps five species, including Zannichellia palustris.[3] Zannichellia, after G.G. Zannichelli, 1662-1729, Italian botanist.

- At least two distinct trade-offs are thought to facilitate higher diversity in productive plant communities under herbivory. Higher investment in defence and enhanced colonization potential may both correlate with decreased competitive ability in plants. Herbivory may thus promote coexistence of pla
