Rajab (Arabic: رجب) is the seventh month of the Islamic calendar. The lexical definition of Rajaba is "to respect", of which Rajab is a derivative.
This Month is especially remembered when on the 27th of Rajab, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh)was ascended to heaven together with the Angel Gibreel and this day is known as MIRAJ shareef, where Prophet Muhammad pbup, was presented to Allah swt, and the 5 times a day Salah was prescribed by Allah swt.
This month is regarded as one of the four sacred months in Islam in which battles are prohibited. The pre-Islamic Arabs also considered warfare blasphemous during the four months.[citation needed]
Please note that Shiiaism, like Wahabism are merely 'beliefs' and is an interpolation of real Islam. Islam is the revelations that the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) received through the Angel Gibreel, and his subsequent teachings plus his authentic narrations as recorded by his companions. Any additions or interpolations after the Prophet Muhammad's death (Pbuh,) are merely hearsay and baseless and unrecorded 'beliefs' of the Shiias. So ISLAM must not be confused with Shia 'beliefs' and interpolations!
Shiite believe Rajab is the month in which ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib, the first Imam of Shia Islam and Fourth Caliph of Sunni Islam, was born inside the Kaaba, the most sacred place of worship for Muslims. Please note: The parents of Ali ibn Abi Talib were Non Muslims so therefore they did not regard the Kaaba as a sacred place. Ali (ra) was Born at his home in MECCA, not in the Kaaba! And the fact that Ali (ra) himself was a non Muslim bears no significance on the month of Rajab. Ali (ra) only become a Muslim later on.
The month is also a prelude to the month of Ramadan, which follows after the intervening month of Sha'ban. When Muhammad sighted the moon of Rajab, he used to pray to Allah in the following words:
اللّهمّ بارك لنا في رجب و شعبان وبلّغنا رمضان
Allāhumma bārik lanā fī rajaba wa shaʻbāna wa balligh-nā ramaḍāna
"O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha'ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings)."

Timing
The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, and months begin when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted. Since the lunar year is 11 to 12 days shorter than the solar year, Rajab migrates throughout the seasons. The estimated start and end dates for Rajab, based on the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia, are:[1]
