A 17-ketosteroid is a steroid that has a ketone (C=O) functional group at the 17 position (in the upper right corner of most diagrams.) These compound are products of metabolization of testosterone in most tissues such as liver.
Examples of 17-ketosteroids include:
- Androstenedione
- Androsterone
- Estrone
- Dehydroepiandrosterone
